  1. Announcements, Approval of Agenda and Minutes

a. Amanda motions to approve the agenda

    1. Campus Based Fees

a. TAPS Transportation Fee

Lisa: The referendum language must changed due to a policy constriction.

“SFAC will make a recommendation to the chancellor, and the chancellor will approve or disapprove of the fee”

Some spaces were leaning favorably towards the fee, while others were mixed.

Lisa explained that this fee would allow them to reduce their deficit. Gina was cautious about TAPS ability to not go back into debt after the fee ended. Ian discussed TAPS’s inability to be flexible with major changes. Suini: This fee needs to pass, however the large amount of the fee can be a burden for students. Lisa: “We support the fee because Gina motions for Suini’s language:

however we have the following concerns”

  1. Suini: “We support the fee increase because of the significance of

keeping the resources we have at TAPS, but there are concerns about the financial burden placed on students for such a long period of time”

  2. There are no objections but the SFAC wants Lucy to look at our language

first. b. Testing Materials Fee

Gina doesn’t think the logistics are ironed out well enough to support the referendum. She is also worried about summer students being left out of the program. She also does not want to mess up the relationship with the bookstore. Kiryl questioned if Jessica ever touched on why it wouldn’t be offered during summer. 1.

It was explained that SUA doesn’t really operate aside from a few officers, and they don’t have interns.

Alan discusses that logistical issues are solvable. He has seen a few major logistical changes happen around campus and after a year or two they run smoothly. However if a professor forgets their testing materials some will be impacted if their departments are far away and they have to run all the way back to grab them. Gina says that she’s annoyed about the language saying it’s free when it’s really just shifting costs.

Lisa points out that those who are not currently paying for them through free programs would then be indirectly paying for them.

Alan points out that referenda are meant to solve a problem, is this a problem that needs to be solved? Aaron makes an unofficial motion that our official statement be: “The Student Fee Advisory Committee opposes this approach because of logistical issues, general disregard of the bay tree bookstore, and this program will not run during the summer.”

(Will be voted on when we have quorum)

c. Cathy’s announcement

i. Women of color cluster is changing their name. She will be sending the email to

Lucy.

d. Discussion of how to get through all funding requests for the rest of the quarter.

Gina: We need to finish our funding requests before the end of the quarter because 4 of us will be gone. We should have a second weekend meeting.
