Minutes

Attendance: Ashley, Gina, Aaron, Adam, Regina, Suini, Amanda, Alice, Kiryl, Ian, Sabina, Cathy, Lisa, Alan

  1. Approval of the Agenda and Minutes:

a. Aaron motions to approve agenda, Gina seconds b. Julianna motions to approve both minutes (3/3 and 3/5), Amanda seconds

  1. Announcements:

a. Spring Quarter Meeting will either be Thursday or Friday; Suini will send out a

reminder; everyone should complete the survey; Likely Friday at noon

b. SFAC positions for next year - check in with Suini or Amanda c. This Friday 3/16, 6-8pm SCOC Sister College Tabling Event at Merrill Cultural

Center; join Suini! Thai food & massages!

d. Stipends for Winter Quarter, will be paid March 21st & Grad students will be

directly paid

e. SCOC looking for RCC and Cowell Reps (1st or 2nd year, able to serve through

June 2020, $500 stipend)

f. VPI & VPAA are collaborating to give out FREE testing supplies on Thursday

10-4pm and Friday 11-3pm

  1. Membership Updates & Old Business:

a. Cowell Rep resignation - see Lucy’s email. SCOC will begin appointment process b. No committee updates c. Hearing back from units SFAC has funded

Sabina asks about Quarry Amphitheatre - says Student Programs like Summer Orientation are having to pay for it to rent it out.

d. Going to each unit to hear about Summer, really old SFAC survey. Lisa

recommends doing a new survey Spring Quarter so we are prepared to move forward with the Summer Fees next Fall

e. Spring quarter hour-long meetings, would go back to an hour and a half long

meeting Fall quarter

  1. New Topics:

a. Graduate students interested in having a mandatory Diversity Training b. UCSC Online Diversity Orientation - 2nd Student Focus Group on Wednesday, April 11th at the Namaste Lounge (See email from Kiyana Modes, Suini has forwarded the email)

5. CSF (Council of Student Fees)

a. April 6th and April 7th, Friday noon-5pm at UCOP and Saturday at UC Berkeley b. Let Suini know if you are interested in attending!

  1. TAPS Language

a. Gina - has taken awhile to hear back from TAPS, expressed concerns b. Amanda - expressed concerns about TAPS changing SFAC’s language c. Suini will bring this back to Lucy

  1. Quarry Amphitheatre Fees

a. Concerned that students have to pay for it b. Concerned student programs like Summer Orientation have to pay for the space c. Where are these fees going? Does SFAC have any oversight? d. Who in the Dean of Students Office is in charge of the Quarry?
