  3. Public Comment
    1. Lucy shares that last Wednesday we held orientation for new SFAC members. All of the Orientation materials are in this FOLDER.
  4. Announcements & Updates

    2. Invitation from Oakes College Student Senate
      1. The Oakes Student Senate is excited to announce that we will be hosting our annual Oakes-O-Ween event again this year, and we’d love for you to be a part of it!
      2. We are inviting you to host a table with an interactive activity or game to give away treats. Your presence helps make Oakes-O-Ween a vibrant, engaging, and spook-tacular event for everyone.
      3. What are the Event Details? Date: 10/23/2025, Thursday, Time: 7-10 PM, Set-up: 5:30-6:40, Clean-up: 10-11 PM, Location: Oakes Upper Lawn
      4. Laila, Sofia, and Marshall are able to attend. Marshall can pick up the items from Lucy’s Office for the set up process.
    3. Fall Quarter Council on Student Fees (CSF) Meeting will be held at UC San Diego on November 15th-16th
      1. We will discuss this item at the next meeting.
    4. SFAC Fall Retreat Discussion
      1. Marshall explains that we will get together about once per quarter for social time. Marshall asks what people might want to do. Ideas that come up: mini-golf, curries (Indian or Thai), bowling, etc.
      2. Outcome: Thai food and activity in winter quarter.
    5. Miscellaneous and Course Fees Committee (Lisa)
      1. Lisa explains that the Misc and Course Fees are the only fees that are delegated to the Chancellor at each campus (all of their fees like tuition are approved at the Regents level).
      2. Course fees are fees that are associated with academic activities like supplies, expenses associated with a field course where you have to travel, certain labs, etc. Each academic division submits a request each year for any new or modified course fee requests.
      3. It is important to have student input in these fee processes; staff do not have the same perspective on these fees.
      4. Miscellaneous fees are fees for services like renting a facility, copying services, etc.
      5. Lisa explains that we review the fees in April; last year there were 2-3 meetings for miscellaneous fees.
      6. Meetings take place during the regular business hours on Zoom.
      7. Mel, Marshall, Nicholas, Vir, Sofia, Laila are interested. We can revisit when we get closer to that event time.

  5. Preparing for the Funding Call

    2. Funding Call Format
      1. Marshall takes us through the proposed format for the funding call this year. This includes some updates to last year’s process, to review proposals in groups, and also to include presentations.
